The City of Le Sueur has been awarded a $462,840 grant through the Minnesota Small Cities Development Program (SCDP). This program is funded through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). The City’s application was submitted in February and Le Sueur was among 32 cities across the State to be awarded funds.
Rental and owner-occupied homes will be able to apply for loans through this program if located within the target area (map enclosed). Eligible repairs may include roofing, foundations, siding, windows, doors, heating, electrical and plumbing, health and safety, lead hazards and accessibility.
Property owners within the target area will receive notice of an informational meeting regarding the application process in early September.
A task force was assembled in 2015 to prioritize findings from the 2014 Housing Study commissioned by the Le Sueur Economic Development Authority (EDA). Of those recommendations, the following items have been achieved:
• Rental Licensing Program
• New construction incentives
• Housing rehabilitation
• New rental development (Oak Terrace Assisted Living)
The City of Le Sueur will continue to work toward:
• Employer Assistance Programs
• Additional Rental Development
Through this program, the City of Le Sueur looks forward to making our community an even better and more beautiful place to live.
